Post Prompt #10

A very intriguing observation I made after reading everyones blogs is that most people wrote about how audio and video media enhances a presentation. I think that it allows students to learn more effectively.

Next, I would like to learn moe about excel. Excel seems so useful and so efficient. I feel that it is do detailed that there is alot more that I would like to learn about it.

In the future, I believe that I already know how to achieve my technology goals as a teacher. Aside from learning how to use excel better, I already know how to do power points, videos, animations, word and the basics of excel.

A really interesting web-based tool that I found is on the discovery education website. The link is http://puzzlemaker.discoveryeducation.com/. With this website you can create many different puzzles and educational tools.
This website is very easy to maneuver through. It seems like it would be a very hassle free and effective tool for teachers to use to make a wide varity of puzzles and worksheets. They cold make math puzzles, word searches, crossword puzzles and much more. It also allows you to customize the puzzle.
As a teacher, I think that excel is going to be a great tool. I would like to teach second grade. I would use excel to organize and calculate the student's grades. And I would also use excel to record their different reading levels throughout the year so I can help them reach improvement goals.
For the final project my group and I are planning to create a buisness department at our school. Since we already have one computer lab at our school, we are going to create a second, smaller one. We will do this so that we can expand the number of teachers and students that are able to be a part of this department. We also want to get marketing and accountin software along with microsoft office and smart boards for the students. We are going to do 4 different levels of courses so students can go through all of high school progressing and competing for their spot in this prestigeous and extremely educational department.

Post Prompt # 8

I really liked my power point number two. I think that the game was very interactive and I think that the sound helped to add a little extra. I also used a picture on every page and that heped add to it. If I could do anything to improve my powerpoind, I would improve the aesthetics and I woulg have spent more time on each page and maybe add some animations in.

If I wanted to create a lesson to integrate peripherals and non-computer-audio-visual technologies I could bring in a magic school bus or Bill Nye the Scince Guy video that the class could watch that related to the lesson. They could take a school bus trip through outter space and then have a coordinating worksheet.

I think that the skills I learned last week will be extremely useful to me in my educational carreer. It is great to know how to use the resources on a computer to the fullest. I am excited to be able to create really good review games for my class in the future. I would love to make learning alot of fun for my students and what I have learned is going to help me accomplish this.

The biggest advantage to using presentation software in the classroom is that it keeps your information really organized and allows the students to see an ouline of what exactly youre giving your lesson on. A disadvantage that I have found is that using presentation software sometimes gets monotinous for a student if its not accompanied with a really good lecture.

I would use powerpoint to make a game over material right before a test. When I was in school, I enjoyed reveiw games on powerpoint. I would do it for a history test and use different battles and dates in my game.

I kind of like writing on the board because I feel like its a little more interactve and I would like to mix things up and not be one of those teachers that just does power point. I hope that technology doesnt completely take over the classroom.

I think that web 2 technoligies in K-12 education is a great idea. I would use them to make learning more interesting and interactive. I would use certain websites and things that would make educational activities more effective and to keep learning fun.

As a teacher, I wouldn't consider wikipedia as a very reliable learning resource. I would feel uncomfortable with my students using this website to gain valuable knowledge that is crucial to my class. The only time I am comfortable with this website is when a student is using it for general information and plans on doing alot of follow-up research.

I think that the skills I acquired last week will be great and extremely useful to my educational career. Being able to use technology as an asset to a lesson plan is a great skill to have. Now that I know how to use powerpoint I feel like it will give my lesson plans a boost and help the kids pay attention. Power Points will help me organize what I want to present to the class.

I think that if a student knows how to use the internet,it can be a very helpful component to assist in their research. However, the internet can be detrimental to a student if they dont know where to look. Studentsshould know how to find legitimate research sights that are written by an authoritative source.
I am not very good at technology, but some resources that we have used as a class are really good for supporting student learning. Ine of my favorite programs that I have learned to use is inspiration. I also like Google scholar.
I want to be an elementary schoiol teacher so I am not worried about my students looking up anything too risque. The one thing that I would need to look out for are games on the unternet, like addictinggames.com. But, for the most part I think that if I teach the kids how to play educational games then the computer and internet will be a great learning tool.

I think that alot of the concepts in Chapter a 7 are a very good tool for teachers. Outlines can be used by both the teacher and the students. They are a great way for a teacher to organize their lesson plans and a great way for a teacher to educate their students more effectively. I would encourage my students to draw their own oulines.
This is a great skill to have as they go farther in their studies. This would really show if the student understands the conept. These past few lessons with inspiration have been an extremely helpful resource.
I really like being able to know how to make concept maps and get familiar with different programs that I may be using as a teacher. I find this class and everything that I have learned extremely relevant ti my major and my interests.
